The Our Schools at a Glance dashboard displays operational and academic data for all the school districts within a selected region, like a legislative district. The data are pulled from other reports on MI School Data to give an overview of the district or region.
For legislators, the report provides key indicators for all school districts, including charter schools, within their legislative districts. Selecting an individual school district shows a profile of key district-level metrics.
The report also gives families and educators new ways to see how schools in their city or county region are performing. Contact information is included with each selection.
The report is updated at various times throughout the year, as data become available. See the About the Data ATR for when specific data sets are updated.
Due to the suspension of state assessments, assessment data for the 2019-20 school year is not available for M-STEP, MI-Access, SAT, PSAT, or ACT WorkKeys. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the United States Education Department issued a waiver of the federal requirement that Michigan students take statewide summative assessments during the 2019-20 school year, as well as for waivers of related accountability and report card requirements. Executive Order 2020-65 waived state requirements for these assessments.
Historical Changes
District-level accountability data was no longer calculated beginning with 2017-18 data.
The initial report screen lists all Michigan school districts by default. Click on a School District, MI House District, MI Senate District, or US House District to display additional information about the selected location. (Because a U.S. Senator’s district covers the entire state, that option is not included). Or you can enter a location into the Find Location search bar.
Selecting a legislative district will take you to a Regional View dashboard; selecting a school district will take you to a School District dashboard.
To return to the initial launch and search page, click Edit Report at the top of the screen.
See the MI School Data Quick Start Guide for the basics of navigating the site and customizing a report.
Location Options
The search feature in this report has more options than most MI School Data reports. Click Search or Keyword Search and enter any part of a school district, city, legislator’s name, or a legislative district number. For example, searching for “ben” will produce a list with all schools and legislators with “ben” anywhere in their name.
Searching for a city name will produce a list with all schools that have an address in that city, as well as all legislative districts that fall within the city’s boundaries.
