The Michigan Department of Education and the Center for Educational Performance and Information have developed a series of dashboards and reports showing performance and effectiveness for Michigan schools and districts. Each of these tools assesses entities for different perspectives and purposes. Together, the suite of tools creates a larger overall picture of an entity’s performance and effectiveness.
Parent Dashboard
This easy-to-use tool is filled with important school-level information that parents and others say they want to know about Michigan public schools, including charter schools. Parents can find the information they need to have conversations and regarding their local schools.

School Index
The Michigan School Index System measures public school performance in six key areas: student growth, student proficiency, school quality/success, graduation rate, English Learner progress and assessment participation. Schools identified as low-performing per the requirements of the Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015 receive additional support and resources for school improvement.

School Grades Report
Public Act 601 of 2018 created a statewide accountability system for Michigan public schools. Schools are given grades in the areas of proficiency, growth, graduation rate, attendance and more.

Annual Education Report
The federally required report provides detailed, tabular information on teacher quality, student assessment, and accountability for schools, districts and the state in one convenient place.

31A At Risk
The 31a At Risk report shows the number and percent of proficient 3rd and 11th grade students identified as At Risk on the M-STEP and College Readiness state assessment tests. An “At-Risk Pupil” is a K-12 student meeting any of the 10 identification criteria in Section 31a(19) of the State School Aid Act.
